Why Galibier Design?

I had known Thom Mackris, proprietor of Galibier Design, for a few years already. It was strange because after living in Colorado 5 years, it wasn't until after I moved to California that I actually met Thom. Ironically, my first purchase from Thom was not a turntable, but rather in 2005 I bought his personal Hagerman Trumpet phonostage (both Thom and I still discuss our regrets in selling off this fabulous creation from Jim Hagerman). During the next 5 years I came to rely on Thom for occasional analog advice and he has always been supportive and helpful.

While visiting Thom for the first time back in 2005 I was very impressed with his analog set-up, especially the turntable. Since then Thom has expanded his product offerings, but his turntables have retained their consistency for being meticulously designed with attention to detail and works of art. It was a long time coming, but I eventually procured one of his turntables for myself 5 years later. Exhibiting at THE SHOW 2011 in Las Vegas, NV (where Electra-Fidelity is headquartered), my Galiber Serac made a guest appearance and was well received. Even Michael Fremer was intrigued enough to snap a photo of it and hang out for a quick listen. At this point I was completely convinced that Electra-Fidelity should represent Thom's turntables.

So here it has come to be that Electra-Fidelity Audio is proud to offer Galibier Design turntables. In fact they are the only current manufactured turntables that we offer our customers. However, rest assured we'll be adding some tonearms and cartridges that match up well with Thom's turntables. So feel free to contact us if you have an interest in a Galibier Design turntable and we'll see what we can do to come up with a package that will allow you to realize all your vinyl collection has to offer.
